Heat meters by QUNDIS.

QUNDIS heat meters at a glance

The German metering instrument manufacturer QUNDIS produces heat meters with ultrasonic and impeller technology. Both device types are ideal system modules for measuring and recording heat consumption in heating systems with central heat generation. This means that the tried-and-tested heat meters in our Q heat series enable you to record the energy consumption of various heating, cooling, solar and hot water systems.

The Q heat series heat meters are particularly practical due to their compact design and simple operation. In its class our ultrasonic heat meter Q heat 5 US is the flattest unit on the market and, thanks to the removable calculating unit, can also be easily installed in particularly inaccessible places.

The current consumption, readout date and the readout date value can be conveniently recorded by the push of a button via a display loop.

Electronic heat meter Q heat 5 / Q heat 5.5

Compact and versatile.

The Q heat 5 / Q heat 5.5 electronic heat meter is fitted with an IrDA interface as standard. It is available as a screw-type version and a measuring capsule version for the connection interfaces IST (G2″ – Ista),  A1 (M77 x 1,5 – Allmess) and TE1 (M62 x 2 – Techem). If data transmission is to be implemented by radio (Q AMR, Q walk-by) or by cable (Q M-Bus), the device can simply be retrofitted with an add-on module.

For special applications such as water heating we have equipped Q heat 5 / Q heat 5.5 with a fast measuring cycle. All volume meters are available in the established flow dimensions of 0.6 / 1.5 and 2.5 m3/h.

The optimized display loop: After pressing any key in sleep mode the display of the Q heat 5 heat meter now shows the current reading, the scheduled readout day and the scheduled readout value in a loop. This loop is repeated 10 times.  In order to simplify readout operations, a display test separates the display of the current value from the scheduled readout value. Readouts by tenants or untrained personnel have now become much simpler.

What is a heat meter?

A heat meter measures the energy consumed in the supply of a certain amount of heat or cooling. The device is mounted directly in the pipe network.

The process behind it is quite simple: Water is heated in a heating system. When a radiator is turned on, this water flows from the heating unit to the consumer through the heating circuit at a certain flow temperature. Each active radiator emits the heat of the heated water to the surrounding room. The water cools down and continues to flow behind the radiator in the return pipe. The temperature difference between flow and return is measured by the heat meter. The unit calculates the energy consumption from the temperature difference and the amount of water that has passed through.
